Sen. Grassley Questions Microsoft about Layoff Policy
Concerned about Microsoft’s plans to cut 2,000 to 3,000 jobs over the
next 18 months, U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, sent a letter to
Chief Executive Steve Ballmer expressing concern over how the layoffs
will be handled.
Grassley requested details on the handling of the layoffs and expressed
concerns over the potential layoff of American workers over foreign
workers employed on temporary H-1(b) visas.

Bleak Economy May Mean Delay for Immigration Reform

Napolitano outlines immigration policy
Prior to her confirmation as Homeland Security secretary, Janet
Napolitano pledged to get tougher with employers who hire illegal
workers. She provided a glimpse of her policy during her confirmation
hearing which focused on dealing with illegal immigration from both the
“demand side as well as the supply side”.
