AACN Fact Sheet
The AACN has just produced a fact sheet aimed at keeping stakeholders abreast of current statistics related to the nursing shortage. AACN, citing a recent issue of Health Affairs, still projects that the nurse shortage will triple in the next decade. This is down from early projections that the shortage would increase eight-fold, but still shows that there is no end in sight.

Canada to Increase Capacity at Consulate in Manila
The Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, today announced more immigration officers will be sent to the visa office in Manila, Philippines, to speed up the processing of applications. This number is expected to continue to grow in response to increasing demands from Canadian employers for temporary workers.

Jacksonville Sees a Nurse Instructor Shortage
“Higher education nursing programs are challenged to find people to train the next generation of nurses, mainly because of the salary disparity between those who teach and those who practice. That generation of nurses needs to be even larger as Northeast Florida, like most of the nation, faces a nursing shortage.”
