10/02/2003 HEALTHCARE IMMIGRATION ALERT:
NEW VISA SCREEN DEVELOPMENTS DEMAND YOUR LOBBY EFFORTS
On September 22 the USCIS released a remarkable Memorandum which, among
other things, radically changes long-standing USCIS and INS policy; it
requires a nurse to have a healthcare certification (i.e. Visa Screen)
before the I-485 is filed rather than at the time of an I-485 Request for
Evidence. (For more detail on this Memorandum, see:
http://www.hammondlawfirm.com/alerts/09.30.03healthcare_alert.htm).
Attached to this Immigration Alert is a
sample letter which we are asking all clients and friends to
print off and send to five persons: William Yates -- who drafted the
September 22 Memorandum, Eduardo Aguirre -- the Director of the USCIS, your
local Representative and both U.S. Senators from your state.
Please take the time to do this now. In order to ease the burden of our
request, the letter is crafted in a general sense, although you may amend as
you feel appropriate. Please place the letter on your firm's letterhead and
sign. The addresses for the five persons are:
1. William Yates, USCIS, 425 Eye Street NW Room 7256 , Washington D.C. 20536
2. Eduardo Aguirre, Director USCIS, 425 Eye Street NW Room 7309, Washington
D.C. 20536
3. Your Congressional Representative's address can be found here:
http://www.house.gov/writerep/
4. Your Senator's address can be found here:
