IMMIGRATION ALERT
CIS TO INCREASE FILING
FEES
Later today, the CIS is
expected to announce that starting April 30, 2004, the price to process an
immigration petition is going up. An advance copy of the forthcoming
announcement has been obtained by AILA.
In the announcement, the CIS
is also expected to reiterate its stated goal of reducing backlogs
across-the-board by Fiscal Year 2006 (which
starts October 1, 2005). In FY2006, the CIS seeks to have all petitions
processed within six months of filing.
