IMMIGRATION ALERT
PERM, the Department of Labor's (DOL)
long-delayed fast-track Labor Certification program, may become effective
by the end of the summer. Under the government's regulatory scheme, PERM
must first be sent to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the
government's auditors. OMB then has 90 days to either send the PERM
regulations back to the DOL to be amended or to send the regulations out
for publication. DOL has indicated that the regulations will take effect
120 days after publication.
